Tax advice
Your cross-border position addressed before a transaction fixes it.

The discipline
Two systems, one position: the reading happens before the transaction.
Every border your life crosses is a tax position: two residencies, two treaties, two sets of filing obligations, and a transaction that lands differently on each side. The time to address that is before the transaction, while the useful decisions can still be made.
ValMonde does not provide professional tax advice. What the firm does is find you certified tax advisers in the jurisdictions involved and coordinate their work around your whole position. Its own investment advisors carry a working knowledge of each jurisdiction's rules, enough to see the question early and put it in front of the right specialist.
The work
Residency, read properly
Where you are resident, where you are taxed, and where the two disagree. The reading that comes before every other decision.
Before the transaction
A sale, a purchase, a move, an inheritance: each lands differently on each side of a border, and the useful decisions exist only beforehand.
Specialists, met directly
Tax counsel in the jurisdictions involved, engaged for your specific question. You meet them, you read their advice, and it is coordinated around your whole position.
Together with your own advisers
Your existing accountants and lawyers stay in the picture. The work is coordinated with them, never around them.

Every useful tax decision is made before the ink dries.
Who this serves
Before a sale or purchase
A transaction that lands on two tax systems at once, best read before the ink dries.
Changing residence
A move that changes what you owe, where you file, and what the timing of the move itself costs or saves.
An inheritance across borders
An estate in one country, heirs in another, and two regimes with opinions about the same assets.
How it begins

- 01
The introductory meeting
An hour on the transaction or the move in front of you, and what it touches on each side of the border.
- 02
The fact finding
Your residencies, obligations, and the jurisdictions involved, mapped before anything is advised.
- 03
The proposal
A coordinated position in writing, with the specialists who will carry each part of it.
The questions this covers
Residency and its tests
Where you are resident for tax purposes, under each country's own rules, and what breaks the tie.
The transaction
Sales, purchases, and reorganizations, read on both sides of the border before they close.
The estate
Inheritance and gifts across jurisdictions, and the reliefs and treaties that apply to them.
Coming into compliance
Positions that drifted out of order, regularized properly with the specialists who handle disclosure.
Questions
Does ValMonde prepare my filings?
Filings stay with your accountants in each country. ValMonde coordinates the position they file from, so both sides of the border tell the same story.
When is the right time to look at this?
Before a transaction, a move, or a change of residence. Afterwards the position is fixed and the options are fewer.
My affairs span more than two countries. Is that a problem?
It is the situation the firm is built for. The work is coordinated across every jurisdiction involved, one position at a time.
Which countries does this cover?
The jurisdictions your life touches. The specialists are engaged per question, in the countries involved, and coordinated around one position.
What does the coordination cost?
The specialists' fees are theirs, quoted to you directly and in writing. ValMonde's part is set out before any work begins.
I have never done cross-border planning. Where do I start?
With the introductory meeting. An hour establishes which questions your position actually raises, and which specialists are worth engaging first.
